Universal lamp Adapter
For use with other lamp bases. Use the file labeled (UNI) with a 40mm through hole mount. There is no guarantee, but this adapter works with some 40mm lamp bases.
The base will fit any A19 bulb (photos shown with a Philips Smart bulb), it is recommended to use a smart bulb that is dimmable by the bulb to get low light effects. The base does not have dimming, only an on/off switch:

Materials
Most 3d printing materials will work for this but to allow the best interaction with light, translucent materials provide the best light diffusion. White or natural will allow the lamp shade to take on the color of the bulb.
The lamps sold here are printed with a Natural color ASA from Polymaker. This ASA color is a translucent off-white. Natural meaning without pigments which provides better light transmission.
Polymaker ASA
Other materials' 'natural' color may have similar or different effects. PETG for example is a clear based plastic.
Print Settings
This design looks best when printed with thin walls and minimal or no infill to allow light to diffuse through. However the threaded portion benefits from more structure, add infill for this piece.
Use a brim for more reliable bed adhesion due to the small contact area on this large print.
The cholla lamp shade is imported with 2 separate parts in the slicer. This is to optimize infill for each.
Shade (A)
- No infill on the lattice shade
- 2 perimeters minimum to help overhangs
- Brim on bed for adhesion
- No support needed
Threaded Connector (B)
- 2-4 Perimeters
- 40-70% Infill
- Supports for the bottom surface only
Allow smaller minimum perimeter width. This is key to getting smooth transitions from the thin panels to the rest of the lattice. Ensure there are 2 perimeters generated in the thin panel areas after slicing.
This setting is found in the advanced tab of prusa slicer and under the Arachne perimeter generator section.
Set Minimum perimeter width: to 0.2mm
(for a 0.4mm nozzel)
Selective support area will save a lot of time with this print. The lattice and threads do not need supports. The only area needed is the bottom surface of the threaded part. Paint on or select this surface to limit supports.
For more reliable z contact, lower the support contact distance to 0.1mm
Happy Printing!
